Frequently Asked Questions

What makes MJS different from other studios?
The social event photography industry is composed of very small businesses, mostly one or maybe two person operations either working out of their home or in a small commercial location.
MJS Studios is different because we are a large studio. We offer many services and safeguards to our clients that smaller studios cannot, and specialize only in weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, and other social event photography and video. And because we have many years more experience than other studios, having photographed over 38,000 affairs in over 60 years, you can feel confident that we are skilled enough to properly cover the most important event in your life.
Since I realize that no photographer would ever show me bad examples of their work, what else should I be concerned with?
Most photographers will only show you their best work. Remember though, you are not buying their sample album, but rather the promise a photographer makes to provide you with the same quality. We offer more unique services than other studios to ensure that you will receive the best possible quality.
What happens if my photographer gets sick or doesn't show up?
Most clients don't think about what they would do if their photographer got stuck in traffic or lost on the way to the affair. Even a reputable photographer will, over the course of time, experience events outside his control that could cause lateness and even the possibility of a complete no show.
When you consider that schools have substitutes, doesn't it make sense that studios should have backup photographers? Because we expect the unexpected, we have extra photographers in reserve, waiting to instantly respond to any emergency. With MJS Studios, the only thing you need to concentrate on is having fun - we take the worry out of your photography!
Do you have backup equipment?
While some professionals bring only one camera, more experienced photographers carry two. MJS' photographers have an unlimited access to backup equipment. Should our photographer's primary equipment malfunction and he needs to revert to the backup equipment he carries, he will call one of our backup photographers who will bring additional replacement backup equipment. Unlike many other studios, we won't have to rely on the one remaining camera to complete the affair.
How will my photographer know what I want?
When you select MJS Studios, you will receive our manual Preparing for Great Photography and Video, which will describe everything we are going to do on the day of your event. You will know what to expect! You will also receive our specially written Schedule of Requested Poses, where you can list the family members and friends you want photographed. Just simply select the poses and people you want photographed and we will take care of it!
How can I be sure that I will like my photographer?
Because MJS Studios is an established quality studio with many more affairs to photograph than other studios, the area's most talented photographers work here. Our photographer will call you prior to your day to review all the details. With your Schedule of Requested Poses in hand, he will know all about you and your party, and you will feel like you are chatting with an old friend!
I was a bridesmaid at a wedding where the photographer was very obnoxious. How can I be sure I am not going to get a pushy photographer?
A photographer's aggressiveness often results when he tries to take unwanted poses in an attempt to increase sales. Since our photographers do not know, nor care, what you spend, their only motivation is to make you happy. Because of your Schedule of Requested Poses, our photographer will create the images you want and not waste your time with undesired pictures.
How would you best describe your style of photography?
With over 60 years of professional experience, we have seen many styles come and go and reappear again. Today, our photographers will create a unique blend of traditional portraits and illustrative photojournalistic candids to depict the story of your day. If you prefer one style to another, just let us know and we will be happy to oblige!

What is a typical itinerary for photographing a wedding?
Our itinerary is planned for you to enjoy your day to the fullest. Many of our plans include photography at your home or the location you are dressing, coverage of your ceremony, portraits of you and your bridal party at a location of your choice, and reception candids. It's our goal to create all of the posed photographs prior to your reception, allowing you the opportunity to enjoy your friends and family.
How many pictures do you take?
Many studios will limit the number of proofs in their packages, depending upon how much you spend. With our full coverage plans, we do not limit the number of exposures to a specific number. And because your photographer will take as many poses as needed to assure a great selection, he'll have the freedom to be creative.
Do you offer any video services?
Yes we do! Many clients prefer using one studio for both photography and video to provide a coordinated affair. We are proud to offer many video plans designed to fit your budget.
Will I be able to view my pictures on the internet?
Of course you can! At your option, we'll collect the e-mail addresses of your guests and send them a link to your password-protected site, allowing everyone the opportunity to relive your event! They'll even have the opportunity to order reprints via our secured server.
Do you offer black and white and selective hand colored services?
We sure do! Black and white and selective hand coloring are popular options that will really add impact to your album and portraits. Both services are available at the time you place your order.
How do your prices compare with other photographers?
Our clients tell us our photography is the best they have seen, we offer more products, more services, and we are hundreds of dollars less than other photographers. You decide!
